Taking a moment to regain their composure, our intrepid explorer‘s gather their thoughts and try to figure out what they want to do next. Mitchell is very upset that Johns was killed by the fighting mannequin. Gaining the assent of the rest of the party, Johns decides that everyone with the missile weapons should fire upon the mannequin in hopes of destroying it before can attack and kill anyone else. He’s also concerned because he believes of the passageway to the South will lead where the group wants to go.
On the count of three, everybody lets loose with a series of daggers, arrows, and crossbow bolts. Many of the shots fly wide hitting the wall and striking the floor, but Ursu has a shot strike true. The smooth face of the mannequin lights up with two red dots, roughly where eyes would be. The mannequin comes to attention, salutes with its weapon, and races forward to strike Ursu. Everyone nearby grabs a weapon and lunges forward to attack the creature. At first they seem to be attacking it futilely but then they are successful, stabbing at it, beating it and piercing it until at last it is punctured. Whatever fluid beat through it’s mystical, magical heart, is pumped out through the wounds that Ursu made. Unfortunately he was not fast enough to dart aside the arterial geyser and was doused with it. Acid burned him on his face and his arms and eventually killed him.
Fatalities aside, the group decides to explore to the south. Skivvy the Rogue scouts ahead into the next room and finds a large, covered stone sarcophagus. The sides of the sarcophagus are lined with smooth panels of a whitish stone, like semi-translucent marble. The walls of the room are covered in hieroglyphics of the same type of rough, tan stone. Feeling curious, skivvy slides back the lid and is met with a small whoosh of stale, dusty air. The bottom is lined with a fine dust. With a sense of, "why not?", he rushes back to the rest of the party and drags Ursu's body to put into the sarcophagus to see what happens. Shortly after, the lid slides closed with a hiss of air and the smooth panels on the sides light up. A powerful humming fills the air. After a few moments, there is a pounding from inside the coffin. Fearfully, he pries the lid off and a stunned Ursu leaps out, confused and afraid. After a surprisingly uneventful reunion with the party, people realize what Skivvy was doing and point out that resurrecting Ankrima in a coffin was the whole purpose for the jaunt to this realm that now counts so many dead.
Ankrima's body is retrieved and placed in the sarcophagus. The stone coffin repeats its performance, but one of the panels flickers and during the process and stops part way through. As a confused Ankrima is roused she goes through a longer period of confusion than Ursu. Agitatedly waving off the helping hands of her comrades, a tail comes to her aid to push the others away. Ankrima the dwarf now sports a fine, strong, pink tail almost as tall as her. She quickly tucks it away in a fit of embarrassment and hopes to mention it nevermore.
Hopeful of raising yet another fallen comrade, the part pops in a third person into the chamber. The panels flicker wildly and one of them starts smoking. The lid does not slide back automatically this time, but their comrade can be heard banging inside, desperately seeking freedom.
